Nice to see you all here again, today I would like to introduce myself and the reason why I am here in Taiwan.

My name is Iqbal Muhammad; I am a Muslim who comes from Aceh, Indonesia. My Hobby is playing Badminton, watching movie, listen to music and reading also travelling. During my time here in Taiwan I visited many interesting places such as: Yehliuo Geopark, Danshui love tower and red fort, Hsinchu Naliao beach, Kaohsiung shijin beach and Love River, pintung beach and many more.

I came to Taiwan to study Master Business Administration at Chung Hua University in Hsinchu. I have been here in Taiwan for 2 years, but my Chinese still not good and I found that study Chinese was not easy.

First time I arrived in Hsinchu I found that hard to find halal food here, being a Muslim we cannot eat pork and its derivatives, cannot drink beer and alcohol, so we have no other choice except to cook by our self and language barrier also gave me a lot of problem, it’s really gave me cultural shock.

After I get accustomed with new culture, I found that Taiwan is very beautiful country, with friendly people and fantastic beach and mountain scenery around.

Right now, I am not only having many Taiwanese friends but also from other countries such as: Columbia, Spain, Mexico, USA, Italy, India, Philippine, Myanmar, Japan and Korea.

Here in Taiwan I found that there are 5 Mesjid around the country, 2 at Teibei, 1 at Jhong li, 1 at Tainan, and 1 at Kaohsiung. Usually every Friday I go to Jhong li Mesjid to do Shalat ( prayer) but sometime I go to Grand Mesjid in Teibei.

Before I go to Taiwan, I have been working with several local and international NGO’s in Aceh such as: IFRC, UN WFP/HAS, Mercy corps, Caritas Czech and P-Sigma during the tsunami emergency relief period.

I like to help people and joint this activity also working in social or non-profit organization as a volunteer is my life goals.
